Impressions

Set out at around 07:45 am, and it was overcast. Pretty cool weather. Ideal for a stiff walk. There were almost no people out and the roads were almost empty as well. The whistling and singing of the birds could be heard clearly without the usual annoying sounds of cars overtuning them.

The first photo is taken on my walking route. I am always again surprised about the falling of the leaves since I connect that with the fall and not with spring...

The second photo is of the bird (that was attacked by the Orviem) of last week now I finally got to figure out how to zoom in properly (still a lot to be desired as to the quality, but I'll hopefully get the hang of it one time). I don't know the name of this bird. The sound he produces is so sweet though!

And the third photo is of the sea of today. It was overcast but there were sunny spells as well and the sea today definitely was a bit 'rougher' than in the last few weeks.

Friday-morning ;-)

Set of to walk at 07:30 this morning and walked 'around' town (very much around, I think I did a U-turn at some point) to Shuk HaCarmel (the Carmel Market). It was lovely weather today and I walked a long, loooooooong way until I reached Shuk HaCarmel, mostly because I didn't know the way and asked (maybe more than 20!) people who gave all different directions :P But I didn't care because the walk was so pleasant.

I would like to invent Na-aleh Etsbah (teenslippers) with the toe separator closer to the end of the slipper because the space between where your toe ends and the end of the slipper is too long and that makes me trip all the time. Does anyone have toes that long that they are even in the approximity of the end of the slippers? Anyway, my new Che Chavara toe-slippers that I bought at the Shuk HaCarmel are too long in the front and too short in the back. Arrrggg.... (But I still like them).

After Shuk Ha-Carmel I walked a bit in Shenkin - not for the shops but because usually there's interesting graffiti sprayed on the walls there and again I was not disappointed. As I got out and started to walk towards the bus stop near the Opera-building there was this street-musician who really caught my heart. On the clip you won't hear really how beautiful her voice was, but it was.... She sang all the great soul songs and standing there listening to her I really got the feeling "strumming my faith with her finger, singing my life in her words...."

So, the long introduction is over and the following are:
1. a short clip of the street musician.
2. a photo of an old building on Rambam street in Tel-Aviv (leading towards Shuk HaCarmel).
3. a zoomed in photo of the balcony of that same old house.
4. a graffiti I really liked in Shenkin street.

Enjoy ;-)

Agmon Hula

Today I went on a touring-car trip to Agmon Ha-Hula to see the migrating birds that are known to cross this part of Israel in the numbers of 500 million each year. It is a pity though that they forgot to tell us that the birds had left already (somewhere between December and March). We saw interesting other things though during the day like Mount Tavor with it's Church op top (we didn't go up) and Umm al-Fahm etc. which we crossed. Also we went to Manara and Reches Naftali from which both places we practically looked into the living rooms of the houses on the Lebanese side of the border we stood 20 meters away from... But birds? Nope....

Here are 3 photos I took of the Hula and if you wouldn't know any better you'd think it was a lovely mules' ranch for mules we saw enough of there LOL.

(It was a bit hazy as well, as today it was 42 degr.C.)

2 dayz in a row...

Because of the Pesach this Sunday also was a kinda "Shabbath" - namely a holiday. So, off I went again walking to the beach, the second day in a row....

The first photo is of a Zikith (lizard) on the roof of a house I pass just after the bridge (viaduct) crossing Ramat-Gan into Tel-Aviv. After shooting the reptile I saw a very nice old man in the garden who wished me "Hag Sameach" (Happy Holidays) and of course I wished him the same back as well.

The second photo is near where I get off the "walking ritual" and into the "strolling" one near Nordau Beach (also called "Hof Hamezizim") - a couple of birds (of whom I yet have to find out the names) were being chased by Orviem (who I H-A-T-E) - and almost caught mid-air. They were trying to distract the Orviem by flying once in 'this' direction and once in another and taking the attention of the Orviem away from the other. Luckily enough the Orviem didn't catch them and flew off. I think I would have thrown a stone at them (the Orviem) if they would have succeeded in catching one of those birds. Unfortunately the shot isn't all that clear - and you can't see the bird properly. Still learning how to handle my camera. (Pay attention that the sign says 'dogs allowed' and there sure were a lot of dogs there having fun).

The third is of three flowers that caught my attention when walking the "Tayelet" (boulevard) - I thought they were simply beautiful (with the accent on 'simple') so I shot them. They were on the wall that separates the boulevard with the beach....

Saturday = Beachday

Got out around 09:45 and returned around 12:00 midday. This is the sound of the waves today and underneath that some photos of a statue on the beach in honor of the Altelena who was sunk by 'other jews' and Menachem Begin gave order not to fire back so as not to "raise a hand against a brother".

First photos, new camera

Monday, April 14, 2008 - 13:30

Not the very first, but two of the first. Taken this morning around 07:30 AM during my daily walk. The camera is a Canon Powershot A-570 - it was on automatic and I had put the flash off. I call it "Brave Flower" :

test

Soon, very soon, I am going to buy a new camera for the camera that mysteriously let me down after 2-and-a-half year only - and it will be a Canon Powershot A-570. I almost bought it today as I am so hungry for a camera already - but I am happy I didn't because when comparing prices for the same camera I found some 200 shekels less elsewhere as where I inquired today.

Tomorrow I will walk to the beach again without a camera - but with God's help next week I will be putting some photos up here.
